Melaka FA or known as MAFA was established in the year 1924. This team have unearthed national players such as Datuk Soh Chin Aun, Ramli Junit, Rahim Abdullah, Datuk Ong Kim Swee, G. Torairaju, Mazlan Wahid and many more.
The Melaka FA used to play at Kubu Stadium but now known as Hang Tuah Stadium. Currently they are playing at a 40,000 capacity stadium called Hang Jebat. 1983 was the golden year for Malacca as they’ve won the Malaysian League that time. In 2006-2007 season, Malacca FA have qualified to play in the Super League but relegated to the Premier League a year after. They then played in the Premier League from 2008 till 2010 and was relegated to the FAM League in 2011 till 2015. In the middle of 2013, the Malacca Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Utama Ir Idris Haron was invited by a group of supporters, ex footballers and football analyst for a meeting to discuss on how to change the Malacca football into the right direction.
In 2014, the name Malacca Fa were changed to Melaka United Football Association (MUSA) under the President, Datuk Seri Utama Ir Idris Haron and supported by his Deputy President, Datuk Wira Yusoff Mahadi. In 2015, MUSA’s management have made a detailed planning and brought in Harimau Muda B’s Mat Zan Mat Aris as Melaka United’s head coach. The proper planning deem successful as Melaka United have won the 2015 FAM League and qualified to play for the Premier League. It did not end there. The year 2016 have created another memorable triumph after a season in the Malaysian Premier League, the Hang Tuah squad have dominated the league with flying colors and crowned as the 2016 Premier League champion. That year as well, Melaka United’s import player Illija Spasojević was crowned as the 2016 Malaysian Premier League top scorer and the Melaka United’s supporter won the 2016 Best Fans Award in the 2016 National Football Awards held recently at Shah Alam.
